PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION PLATFORMS

The Game On! Program is built on three (3) main platforms: Training, Implementation and Events.

1. Training
Game On! leader training is a pre-requisite for teachers, instructors and community volunteers who are interested in implementing Game On! at a school or community. Energetic, responsible leaders who want to make a difference in the lives of children and represent the philosophy and principles of Game On! are paramount to the success of the program The Game On! training is eighteen (18) contact hours and is usually delivered over three (3) days. The training program introduces participants to the philosophy and principles of Game On! as well as the necessary tools to run a successful Game On! program. On completion of the Game On! Leader Training, successful participants are presented with a Game On! Manual and a Game On! Leader Certificate.

2. Game On! Implementation
Game On! is implemented at the school or community through Game On! sessions that are facilitated by teachers or community volunteers. The sessions may run from thirty (30) to ninety (90) minutes and should be done at least three (3) times per week. Some community sessions may be run on weekends only and the duration of the sessions increased with sufficient breaks in-between. The sessions will focus implementing the activities in the Game On! Manual and will include warm-up activities, skill learning activities, modified sport and life-skills.

3. Game On! Events
Although schools and communities may create and organize their own Game On! events, there are three (3) core Game On! events that are recommended:

        i.      Sport Clinics – A Game On! clinic is usually a 1-3 days event that focuses on the development of specific sport skills and is designed to upgrade the participants’ knowledge and skill level for the particular sport. The clinic is usually conducted by a qualified coach for the specific sport.

ii.      Skills Challenge/Festivals – The Game On! Skills Challenge is a fun event that will get the children excited about demonstrating their skills to their peers and parents. It is also a key evaluation tool for the Game On! Program as the participants will evaluate their progress throughout the previous school term or sport cycle.

iii.      Game On! Camps – The Game On! Sport Camps may be held over a weekend or during the school vacation may run for an entire week. The camps gather children from different schools and/or communities together to participate in Game On! related activities that place a strong emphasis on building friendships and enhancing life-skills through sport.
