IAYS has been working closely with Founder & President of Youth Initiative Canada, James Kamau, in his efforts to help children throughout Kenya gain the benefits of sports!

Youth Initiative Canada strives to build lasting youth programs in both Canada and Kenya. The organization seeks to develop partnerships with like minded organizations and individuals.  Their aim is to encourage global partnerships and sustainability for positive and meaningful youth development.

 One of Youth Initiative Canada’s efforts is a program called Beyond Hoops, which is a basketball and life skills program that uses the sport of basketball as a vehicle for social change and as an intervention to reach out to young talented people who  don’t get a chance to excel in education and athletics because of limitations brought forth by life challenges and financial barriers. They aim to create a platform for dialogue between youth, educators, coaches and mentors to address some of the issues affecting youth in the community. This platform offers youth a chance to make new friends, improve their skills and values that will extend far beyond the game of basketball.

Basketballs

Uniforms and practice jerseys

Warm-up/track suits

Coaching supplies such as whistles, apparel, stopwatches, etc.
