How to Help

Make a Donation | Collect Equipment

Host a Fundraiser

Are you interested in supporting the Global Gear Drive with a financial contribution that will help ship equipment worldwide, but unsure where to start?

Feel free to contact us at gameon@iays.org for ideas and assistance with your fundraising project.

In the meantime, here are some simple ideas for fundraisers which your school, church, local recreation center, or youth sports league can have to support youth sports in developing countries:

Give a Buck Fundraiser

This fundraiser is great for your local recreation center or school gym.  Print up some paper soccer balls, basketballs, and footballs, which you can then sell for a dollar.  The donor’s name is then printed on the ball and hung up for everyone to see!    At the end of the month, the proceeds are sent to the IAYS and help offset the high cost of shipping Global Gear Drive equipment overseas.

Student/Faculty Basketball Tournament

Consider hosting a student basketball tournament and staff/faculty game at your school.    Each team of students pays a fee to participate ($50 for example).  Student or faculty volunteers act as the officials.  The students play each other in 10-15 minute games in a tournament. The team that wins the tournament then gets to play a team made up of teachers from the high school.  A small admission fee of $1-$5 can be charged for non-participants.  Be sure to have large boxes available to collect used and new equipment.  The proceeds of the tournament can then be donated to help ship the equipment.

Fundraising Read-A-Thon

This is especially great for elementary school children.  Friends and family members can pledge either a flat donation per book that is read, or a certain amount for each page the child reads.  Set a time limit (at least a month!).  At the end of the read-a-thon, reward students with a celebration pizza party.  The donations are then used to support the Global Gear Drive.

Good Grades Fundraiser

Consider doing a fundraiser at your school based on each student's report card. Students get pledges for each A & B they receive with the proceeds going to the Global Gear Drive.  Not only does this help our efforts to support youth sports around the world, but it’s also an incentive for your students to make the best possible grades.

See the sample form below for details:

SAMPLE Report Card Pledge Sheet

In an effort to keep my grades high and support children in developing countries who wish to have the opportunity to play sports, I, __________________________, hereby pledge to do my best in school and have a winning attitude.  Would you be willing to pledge a few dollars for my A’s and B’s or give a one-time donation to help our school raise money for the Global Gear Drive program of the International Alliance for Youth Sports?  At the end of the grading period, I will show you a copy of my report card as proof of my efforts.

Thank you for your support,
