Game On! Youth Sports, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the lives of underprivileged children worldwide through sports, recently conducted a three-day training for 40 volunteers in Cartagena, Colombia.
The training, hosted by Children International Cartagena, was led by a contingent of International Alliance for Youth Sports (IAYS) staff which featured Arturo Sanchez Alvarez, the IAYS representative for Latin America; Kate Cowan, the Director of International Development; and Kate Dilworth, the International Projects Coordinator.
Game On! Youth Sports is the signature program of the IAYS. The philosophy of Game On! Youth Sports is based on the notion that once children have developed basic sports skills they are equipped with the confidence and motivation necessary to participate in the many physical and social activities that life offers. In its continuing efforts to promote the value of sports worldwide, the International Alliance For Youth Sports (IAYS) has established an office in Queretaro, Mexico.
The office will be headed by Arturo Cevallos, the Mexico representative for IAYS, who will oversee the implementation of the Alliance's Game On! Youth Sports initiative throughout the country. Read more... |

Children in Queretaro, Mexico, will have an opportunity to participate in sports thanks to a recent move by the government that will allocate $100,000 over the next two years toward implementing the Game On! Youth Sports program in Queretaro.
Funds will also be utilized to organize the first Latin American Game On! Youth Sports Summit, to be held in Queretaro in 2008. Queretaro is quickly becoming the pioneering state of Mexico in raising awareness about and addressing the need to provide positive and safe sports to its youth residents. Read more... |
